Meeting of the Academic Council as part of the nationwide «Science Day – 2026»

On May 18, 2026, as part of the nationwide «Science Day – 2026» celebrations, a special meeting of the Academic Council was held. Acting Director of the Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Oleksii ALFOROV congratulated the Institute’s research staff on their professional holiday.

In recognition of her dedicated work, high level of professionalism, and significant personal contribution to the institute’s achievements, and on the occasion of Science Day, a Certificate of Appreciation from the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine was presented to Olha CHAIUK, Head of the Department of Scientific Personnel, Graduate Studies, and Legal Support, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences. She was also awarded the «Medal Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine» to Oksana SHABETIA, Scientific Secretary, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, and Senior Research Fellow, and to Tetiana IVCHENKO, Head of the Laboratory of Genetics, Genetic Resources, and Biotechnology, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor.

Based on the results of their research activities, a ranking was established among the institute’s departments, researchers, and young scientists, who were awarded certificates in various categories.

For their outstanding performance in 2025, the following were awarded in the «Laboratory of the Year» category: First place – Laboratory of Adaptive Vegetable Growing, Storage, and Standardization, headed by Svitlana DATSENKO; Second place – Laboratory of Innovative and Investment Development of the Vegetable Market and Intellectual Property, Head – Liudmyla TEROKHINA; Third place – Laboratory of Genetics, Genetic Resources, and Biotechnology, Head – Tetiana IVCHENKO.

In the «Innovator of the Year» category, the team from the Laboratory of Genetics, Genetic Resources, and Biotechnology – T.V. Ivchenko, N.O. Bashtan and T.M. Miroshnichenko was honored for their innovative approaches to scientific data management.

The following individuals were honored for their significant personal achievements in promoting science to the public and developing innovative scientific products: in the «Scientist of the Year» category First Degree – Roman KRUTKO, Leading Researcher at the Laboratory of Solanaceous and Cucurbitaceous Crop Breeding, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences; in the «Scientist of the Year» category, Second Degree – Oleksandr VITANOV, Chief Researcher at the Laboratory of Adaptive Vegetable Growing, Storage, and Standardization, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor; in the «Scientist of the Year» category, Third degree – Serhii KONDRATENKO, Head of the Department of Vegetable and Melon Crop Breeding and Seed Production, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Senior Researcher.

In the «Writer of the Year» category, Oleksandr VITANOV, Senior Researcher at the Laboratory of Adaptive Vegetable Growing, Storage, and Standardization, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor received the award for his prolific publishing output.

In the «Researcher of the Year» category, the award went to  Kostyantyn KONOVALENKO, Senior Researcher at the Laboratory for the Breeding of Biennial and Rare Crops, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences; In the «Young Scientist of the Year» category, the award went to Maksym SERHIIENKO, a junior research associate at the Laboratory for the Breeding of Solanaceous and Cucurbitaceous Crops.
