Meeting of the Coordination and Methodology Council
On April 14, 2026, at the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS, the lead institution responsible for implementing NAAS Research Program No. 23, «Vegetable and Melon Growing,» an online meeting of the Coordination and Methodological Council was held via Zoom to review the work programs for research tasks for the 2026 phase.
The meeting of the Coordination and Methodological Council was attended by researchers from the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS) and its network of research stations the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and «Mayak» stations as well as representatives of organizations co-implementing National Development Program 23: the Institute of Climate-Oriented Agriculture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS), the Cherkasy Experimental Station of the State Scientific Center «Institute of Agriculture of the NAAS,» and the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Development of the NAAS.
The Coordination and Methodological Council was opened by the institute’s director, Oleksii ALFOROV, who highlighted the challenges facing the vegetable-growing sector during these difficult times of war for the country and the role of domestic science in addressing them.
The coordination meeting was chaired by Oksana SERHIIENKO, Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences, head of NAAS Research Program No. 23 «Vegetable and Melon Growing,» and deputy director for scientific work at the NAAS Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing.
Roman KRUTKO, a leading research scientist at the Laboratory for the Breeding of Solanaceous and Cucurbitaceous Crops and a Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, presented a research paper titled «Physiological and Genetic Mechanisms Governing the Productivity of Solanaceous Vegetable Crops.»
The results of scientific research conducted during the first half of the year on 26 second-level projects were reviewed in detail. Reports from project leaders and principal investigators were heard, as were presentations by reviewers. For some projects, comments were made and suggestions were offered on how to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their implementation.
In accordance with the agenda, the membership and work plan of the Coordination and Methodological Council for the Implementation of National Development Program 23, «Vegetable and Melon Growing,» for the second half of 2026 were approved, and the Council’s work was reviewed. The meeting of the Coordination and Methodological Council concluded with the adoption of a draft resolution of the Coordination and Methodological Council of the Scientific and Methodological Center on National Development Program 23, «Vegetable and Melon Growing.»
