Hostile bombing of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of NAAS
On the night of March 17, 2022, a military aircraft of the russian federation conducted an attempt to de-Nazify the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of NAAS. After the enemy bombardment, the House of Culture of the local community, which was built by the staff of the Institute many years ago, was completely destroyed in the village of Selektsiyne. The building of the Institute, as well as the commercial premises where the seed fund was cleaned and stored, suffered significant damage. During the last two days, the staff of the Institute has been making maximum efforts to preserve the state property of the Institute. The seed material of vegetable crops of all categories is completely preserved. Necessary works for the restoration of laboratory premises are being carried out, in which not only the employees of the Institute, but also many residents of the village participate. The resulting material damages have been carefully documented, which information will be provided to the competent authorities.
We have received indisputable confirmation of the true goals of the military operation launched on February 24, 2022. This is not the first attempt by the russian federation to destroy scientific institutions of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. But we are more united than ever and are confident that we will rebuild our Institute and multiply its glorious traditions in the near future.
