Participation in the roundtable discussion «Development of the Seed Industry: U.S. Experience and Ukrainian Prospects,» organized by the public association «All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council»
On June 16, 2026, Institute staff members Serhii KONDRATENKO, Head of the Department of Vegetable and Melon Crop Breeding and Seed Production, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, and Senior Research Fellow, and Liudmyla TEROKHINA, Head of the Laboratory for Innovative and Investment Development of the Vegetable Market and Intellectual Property, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences and Senior Research Fellow Lyudmyla TERYOKHINA, took part in a roundtable discussion titled «Development of the Seed Industry: U.S. Experience and Ukrainian Prospects,» organized by the public association «All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council».
The purpose of the event was to discuss the current state and prospects for the development of the seed industry in Ukraine, to present the results of a B2B trip by Ukrainian companies to the U.S., organized by the AGRO Program, and to familiarize participants with the U.S. experience in developing the seed sector, as well as to identify next steps for implementing innovative technologies, climate-oriented approaches, and digital solutions in seed production.
Representatives of government agencies, expert institutions in the field of plant variety rights protection, public associations and their members, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and its subordinate institutions, regional centers for climate-adapted seed production, institutions of higher education, conformity assessment bodies, as well as representatives of the business community and the expert community.
Based on the roundtable’s findings, the Iowa State University Center for Seed Science presented proposals for developing a network of regional centers for climate-adapted seed production in Ukraine, as well as initiatives to create joint educational and training programs for the training and professional development of seed industry specialists within the framework of the partnership established by the signed memorandum of cooperation. Other pressing issues related to the development of seed production for agricultural crops in Ukraine were also discussed.
