On the Results of the Election for Director of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Crops of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine

On May 28, 2026, the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine held a general meeting of its research staff to elect the Institute’s director.

By Order No. 82-k of the NAAS dated March 11, 2026, a competition was announced for the position of Director of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The NAAS Competition Commission, in accordance with Protocol No. 1 on the competition for the positions of heads of NAAS research institutions dated May 14, 2026, admitted the following candidate to participate in the competition for the position of Director of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine: Oleksii Ihorovych Alferov.

It was proposed that the following individuals be elected to lead the meeting: O.M. Zhukorskyi, Vice President of the NAAS and Academician of the NAAS, as Chair; S.V. Yatsenko, Head of the Department of Scientific Personnel and Graduate Studies within the NAAS Presidium Secretariat, as Vice Chair; and O.M. Shabetia, Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the NAAS, as Secretary.

The Institute’s authorized staff of research personnel consists of 54 individuals. At the meeting of the research staff, 45 people registered, representing 83%. Thus, the meeting of the Institute’s research staff is legally valid to elect the Institute’s director.

The chair of the meeting put the question regarding the number of members of the counting committee to a vote. It was proposed to elect a counting committee consisting of three members. By a majority vote, the following were elected to the counting committee: O.V. Melnyk, T.V. Ivchenko, and S.V. Yatsenko. T.V. Ivchenko was elected chair of the counting committee.

Fifty-four ballots were prepared for the secret ballot; 45 researchers participated in the voting; 45 ballots were found in the ballot box; 9 ballots remained undistributed and were voided.

41 people voted for the candidacy of Oleksii Ihorovych Alferov, 4 voted against, and there were 0 invalid ballots.

Based on the results of the vote, it was RESOLVED: To consider Oleksii Ihorovych Alferov elected to the position of Director of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, having received 91% of the votes cast by the Institute’s researchers.
