Acceptance of scientific experiments

On May 24, 2023, in accordance with the schedule for the acceptance of experiments in the scientific divisions of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Agrucaltural Sciences in 2023, the next acceptance of scientific experiments under PND 20 "Vegetable and Melon Growing" took place with the task:

20.00.02.10. P. "Development of elements of green asparagus production technology in the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine".

The task is carried out under the supervision of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Tetyana Volodymyrivna Ivchenko. The purpose of the project is to study the patterns of formation of green asparagus productivity and to develop measures for the long-term use of plantations. The executors of the project, senior researchers, Candidates of Agricultural Sciences Natalia Bashtan and Tetyana Miroshnichenko, are conducting an agrobiological evaluation of 23 asparagus hybrids in the conditions of the Left Bank Forest Steppe of Ukraine under drip irrigation of the following breeding companies: Walker Brothers Inc (Atlas, Apollo, Purple Passion) and University of Rutgers (Greenic) from the USA; The Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) of the University of Guelph (Guelph Equinox, Guelph Eclipse, Guelph Millennium) from Canada; Limgroup B.V (Avalim, Aspalim, Gijnlim, Portlim, Javalim, Xenolim) and Bejo (Cumulus, Bacchus, Prius, Erasmus) from the Netherlands; Blumen (Vittorio) from Italy; Aspara Pacific Ltd (Pacific Challenger 1, Pacific Challenger 2, Pacific Green, Pacific Endeavour, Pacific Summit) from New Zealand.

During April-May of the current year, the influence of the sum of active temperatures on the dynamics of shoot formation of medicinal asparagus hybrid plants was investigated, and the sugar content in the roots of the plants was monitored before the start of the harvest season. An assessment of the influence of varietal characteristics of medicinal asparagus hybrids on the yield and quality of products when grown in the conditions of the forest-steppe zone using ridgeless technology was carried out. The obtained experimental data will be used in the development of technological maps and economic substantiation of the effectiveness of the use of the developed innovative technology for the production of green asparagus.

The research acceptance commission established the high quality of the research and the prospects of this direction for the agricultural sector of Ukraine.
