Acceptance of scientific experiments on breeding of cucumber

On June 23, 2022, in accordance with the schedule for the acceptance of experiments in the scientific units of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growings of NAAS, the acceptance of scientific experiments on cucumber breeding by assignment took place, for the first time this year and in the conditions of military operations:

20.00.01.06.Ф "Development of methodical approaches for the use of lines resistant to stress factors of the external environment and the creation of a tolerant heterosis cucumber hybrid with high adaptive capacity." Stage 2022 "Isolation of valuable genotypes of cucumber raw material for valuable selection traits and resistance and their inclusion in the selection process." The task is carried out under the leadership of the breeder, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Senior Researchers SERGIENKO OKSANA. Breeders of the laboratory: Senior Researchers, PhD of Agriculture Sciences, Garbovska T., Researchers Radchenko L. and Researchers Solodovnik L. all the necessary stages of the breeding process were carried out to create new competitive cucumber genotypes for the conditions of the protected soil of film greenhouses without heating. To date, a complex assessment of breeding material was carried out according to a complex of economic and valuable traits: early maturity, gynoeciousness, level of parthenocarpy, productivity during the first decade of fruiting, resistance to biotic and abiotic factors of the external environment, and the chemical composition of the fruits was determined. The best hybrid combinations of the first generation and lines with a complex of valuable breeding traits were selected. More than 2,000 crossings were carried out with the aim of obtaining new genotypes and breeding valuable forms for heterosis selection of cucumber.

Kondratenko, Head of the department of the latest growing technologies, Dr. of Agricultural Sciences Vitanov O., Head of the laboratory of innovation and investment development of the vegetable and intellectual property market, PhD of Agricultural Sciences, Senior Researchers Mohylna O., deputy of Head of the Laboratory of Genetics, Genetic Resources and Biotechnology, PhD of Agriculture Science, Senior Researchers Bashtan N., the Head of the laboratory of adaptive fruit growing, storage and standardization, PhD of Agriculture Science, Senior Researchers Shcherbina S. a high scientific and methodological level of scientific research was noted, their full compliance to the Technical Task for 2022 and the Work Program for 2022, their indisputable practical significance and available scientific work were established. Despite the difficult living conditions during the full-scale war in Ukraine, which were caused by the aggressor state of the Russian Federation, the scientists of the institute on their front are responsible and at a high level fulfilling their task in the direction of ensuring food security of Ukraine and increasing its national heritage.

The commission's conclusion is that the level of research is excellent.
