Acceptance of experiments

On August 16, 2022, in accordance with the schedule for the acceptance of experiments in the scientific divisions of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Sciences in 2022, the next acceptance of scientific experiments under PND 20 "Vegetable and Melon Growing" was held with the tasks:

20.00.01.09.Ф "SCIENTIFIC AND METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF USING GENETICALLY MARKED STARTING MATERIAL IN THE CREATION OF A HETEROSIS HYBRID OF WATERMELON". Stage 2022 "Morpho-genetic analysis of the starting material of watermelon and selection of sources of valuable selection traits, their involvement in the selection process by hybridization". The task is carried out under the guidance of the breeder, Dr. Sci (Agr.), Senior Research Fellow Oksana Volodymyrivna Sergienko. The breeders of the laboratory are junior researchers Linnik Z.P. and Lukyanchikova O.A. all the necessary stages of the breeding process for the creation of new competitive watermelon genotypes have been carried out. Selected sources of valuable breeding traits (early maturity – 32, productivity – 24, resistance – 35, high quality – 27). 15 marker genes (characteristics of seeds, plants, fruits) were identified. New hybrid combinations F1 and new lines I 4-6 of watermelon were selected for valuable economic characteristics: early ripening, monoeciousness, resistance to biotic and abiotic factors of the external environment, the chemical composition of the fruits was determined. 11 best hybrid combinations of the first generation and 7 lines with a complex of valuable selection traits and the presence of marker genes are also highlighted, which are involved in the selection process through hybridization and will be used in further selection work as a starting material for heterosis selection when creating new competitive watermelon genotypes.
