Scientific and practical seminar "Peculiarities of the application of biotechnological methods at various stages of selection of vegetable crops."

On May 18, 2023, in the format of a ZOOM conference (on-line), a scientific and practical seminar "Peculiarities of the application of biotechnological methods at various stages of the selection of vegetable crops" was held, which was conducted by Ivchenko Tetyana Volodymyrivna, doctor of agricultural sciences, professor, head of the laboratory of genetics, genetic resources and biotechnology.

The following issues were considered at the seminar:

• theoretical aspects and results of practical solutions to the problem of intensification of selection and seed production of both traditional and niche (yakon, sweet potato) vegetable crops using the biotechnological link;
• use of isolated tissue methods to overcome taxonomic barriers of incompatibility, creation of sources of resistance to necrotrophic pathogens;
• modern experimental approaches to the preservation of the gene pool of vegetable crops ex situ, in particular methods of plant propagation in vitro culture and features of the use of microsatellite DNA markers for genetic identification and passporting of genotypes.

The participants of the scientific and practical seminar were 53 scientists from scientific institutions and institutions of higher education.
