Round Table (18.07.2022)

On July 18, 2022, a Round Table meeting was held between scientists from the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAАS and scientific and pedagogical workers of the Latvian Agricultural University (Jelgava). The event was attended by scientists from both institutions: Dr. Agr. Sciences, Professor Baibu Rivžu, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ina Alsiņa, Doctor of Geological Sciences Ilze Vircava, Assistant of the Department of Agrotechnical Research and Variety Testing Imants Missa (Latvia Agricultural University), Dr. Agr. Sciences, Senior Research Fellow Alexander Kuts, Dr. Agr. Sciences, Senior Research Fellow Oksana Sergienko, Ph.D. Agr. Sciences, Roman Krutko, Ph.D. Agr. Sciences, Senior Research Fellow Aleksey Melnik (Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS). The meeting was also attended by scientists of the Institute who are currently undergoing a scientific and practical internship at the Latvian University of Natural Sciences and Technologies at the Faculty of Agriculture of the Institute of Soil Science and Crop Production: Ph.D. Tech. Sciences Yuriy Syromyatnikov and Ph.D. Agr. Sciences Tetiana Harbovska.

The event discussed aspects of cooperation on topical issues in the agricultural sector, namely breeding, vegetable growing and crop production. Ways of signing the Framework Agreements on Cooperation were discussed. In the areas of research, working groups of leading scientists have been formed to participate in joint scientific Ukrainian-Latvian projects, the implementation of which is scheduled for 2023-2024.
