Participation in professional development courses

From March 9–13, in accordance with the approved 2026 training schedule for NAAS research staff, Institute employees O.V. Melnyk, L.O. Radchenko, L.D. Solodovnyk and L.V. Pylypenko completed training courses on the topics “BREEDING. SEED PRODUCTION. CEREAL CROP CULTIVATION TECHNOLOGY,” organized by the State Institution “Institute of Cereal Crops.”

Lectures were delivered on the following topics:
1. Activities of the State Institution “Institute of Cereal Crops” of the NAAS (history, research areas, results).
2. Maize hybrid breeding.
3. Organization of the breeding process and evaluation of breeding material.
4. Haploid technology in maize breeding: principles, advantages, and practical application.
5. Biotechnological methods in maize breeding.
6. Sorghum - a promising agricultural crop.
7. Agrobiological aspects of increasing the productivity of corn hybrids under conditions of resource scarcity.
8. Fundamentals of patent law. Patent research and the procedure for filing an application for a Ukrainian patent for an invention (utility model).
9. Production of hybrid corn seeds. The legislative framework for seed production in Ukraine.
10. Seed certification and marketing.
11. Post-harvest processing and storage of corn seeds, quality control.
12. Marketing activities in the corn seed market. The economics of corn seed production.
13. Climate change and the technological foundations of winter wheat sowing in the Steppe region of Ukraine.
14. Agricultural production in wartime: problems, challenges, and threats.
15. Specifics of growing and harvesting high-quality winter wheat in the Steppe.
16. Pests and diseases of cereal crops.
17. Soil degradation and ways to combat its effects.
18. Soil resource management in agriculture in the Steppe zone.
19. Adaptive technological measures for growing spring cereals and legumes in the Steppe.
