The 9th International Scientific and Practical Conference «Theoretical and Practical Aspects of the Development of the Vegetable Growing Industry in the Modern Conditions»

On April 8, 2026, the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS of Ukraine hosted the 9th International Scientific and Practical Conference «Theoretical and Practical Aspects of the Development of the Vegetable Growing Industry in Modern Conditions» (online) in the following areas: the application of modern genetic, biotechnological, and immunological methods to accelerate varietal, heterotic, transgressive, and introgressive breeding of vegetable plant species; innovative developments in the breeding of vegetable, melon, and less common crops; innovative technologies for the production of vegetable products and seeds; alternative cultivation technologies (organic, resource-efficient, biodynamic); quality and utilization of vegetable products: functionality, nutritional value, safety; development of the vegetable market, issues related to the commercialization of scientific and technical developments in the agro-industrial complex.

Seventeen research institutions and higher education institutions from Ukraine and abroad participated in the conference. Scientists from the Institute of Genetics, Physiology, and Plant Protection (Moldova), Moldova State University (Moldova), the U.U. Uspanov, the Latvian University of Natural Sciences and Technologies (Latvia), the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of Climate-Oriented Agriculture of the NAAS, the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Central Ukrainian National Technical University of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, S.Z. Gzhytsky Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, National Scientific Center “Institute of Agricultural Economics” of the NAAS, Ustymiv Experimental Station of Plant Growing of the V.Y. Yuryev Institute of Plant Growing of the NAAS, the Institute of Potato Growing of the NAAS, the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS, the Dnipropetrovsk Experimental Station of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS, the “Mayak” Experimental Station of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS, and the Donetsk Experimental Station of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS.

We are confident that the 9th International Scientific and Practical Conference will serve as an effective platform for the further advancement of agricultural science and practice, as well as for the implementation of research findings into production; furthermore, the exchange of the latest experiences, knowledge, and ideas will help identify avenues for the continued improvement and intensive development of the vegetable-growing sector.
